  • What do I need before booking the DMV motorcycle test?

  • Can I pass the test if I've never ridden a motorcycle before?
    It's very unlikely. We recommend booking Kickstart Your Ride, which includes the DMV test.
  • What skills are evaluated in the DMV test?
    You will be asked to identify the basic operational controls on the motorcycle - kill switch, throttle, brakes etc. You will be asked to demonstrate the following skills: Riding within and including the tracking lines Weaving through a row of five traffic cones Ride around the circle twice Shifting gears up and down An observation road test is required for applicants who have never been licensed for any class of motor vehicle
  • Is there an age restriction?
    Yes, we do not coach individuals under 18.
  • Do I need a motorcycle?
    We offer Kawasaki Z125 Pro motorcycles, ideal for beginners and making the DMV test a breeze. For more experienced riders, we recommend taking the class on your own bike.
  • Gear Requirements
    DOT approved helmet Long sleeve shirt or jacket - motorcycle jacket recommended Motorcycle gloves Durable long pants, jeans or better - no rips or holes Over the ankle boots Eye protection recommended - if helmet doesn't have a visor For advanced riders One or two piece race suit Knee sliders
  • Is a motorcycle endorsement required?
    No, but you need to obtain a motorcycle permit. To apply for a California instruction permit, you must complete a driver’s license or ID card application, provide proof of identity and residency, pass a vision exam, and take a knowledge test.   • Cancelation Policy
    Registrants may obtain a refund if cancellations are made at least 7 days before the first class date.
  • Rescheduling Policy
    You can reschedule your class with OcMotoAcademy if changes are requested at least seven days in advance for free. No shows will result in the forfeiture of your payment.
